The AXON US healthcare practice team, aptly named “AXON vs. Cancer”, raised close to $7,000 again this year while participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on Saturday, June 8, 2013. The event helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.

AXON’s team along with their respective families and friends joined together for the second year in tribute to AXON’s honored guest, Ben Marzullo, a brain cancer survivor and in public support of the ongoing cancer battle of our own Luc Beauregard, Founding Chairman of RES PUBLICA.

“We had the chance once again to come together to share this memorable volunteer experience with our colleagues, families and friends,” said AXON’s Sr. Program Manager, Nadia Sajous. “We were blessed with an incredible day that at moments took our breath away, such as the solemnity of  the lap with the luminaries.”

“I am saddened to share that many forms of cancer continue to touch each and every one of our team’s lives – personally and professionally,” said Mario Nacinovich, Managing Partner of AXON. “This year I dedicated my first lap to the Founding Chairman of our Firm, Luc Beauregard. I continue to be inspired by his resiliency and his own messages of hope and strength to each of us.”

The theme of this year’s overall event was “Give Cancer the Boot”. AXON vs. Cancer’s team members embraced the theme by wearing bandanas along with their “Texas Star” team shirts and some even dusted off their cowboy boots for a few laps. AXON’s onsite activities included raffling off several items in our own mini-auction, managing “Ye ‘Ole AXON Saloon Lemonade Stand” and several family friendly activities and games.
