Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing/updating/overseeing complex scientific documents and programs
- Developing visually engaging and targeted presentations for complex clinical data, with/without elements of audience interaction
- Guide our junior team members in developing and tailoring content for different audiences (including internal client, external, healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, nurses, general practitioners)
- Leading some client planning meetings, project-scoping meetings and client workshops, utilizing different communication styles to forge strong strategic partnerships with clients
- Supporting junior colleagues with insights on client strategy and needs
- Working with account handlers to develop accurate budgets that reflect project scopes while promoting fiscal responsibility among junior writers within their team
- Flagging ongoing scope-of-work requests, paying particular consideration to the financial and timeline impact of client requests
- Being aware of project timelines and working with project leads to plan to ensure appropriate medical writers/freelance resources are in place to meet project needs
- Capitalizing on your network to help identify opportunities for new business within the pharma, biotech and medical device industries
- Growing the business organically by providing leadership and direction to colleagues and day-to-day account teams and strategic guidance for clients

Candidate must have:
- At least 6 to 8 years’ experience in medical communications or a relevant field, i.e., college or university degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline
- Excellent interpersonal skills, experience line-managing junior colleagues successfully
- Advanced writing skills with exemplary attention to detail and quality control
- Advanced presentation and facilitation skills
- Detailed knowledge on specific therapy areas and be the ‘go-to’ person for area of expertise, depending on practice group requirements
- Knowledge and familiarity with issues in pharmaceutical industry and medical communications
- The ability to learn quickly about the needs of clients and their service requirements, as well as being adaptable to different client situations and cultures
- The ability to quickly immerse in and understand new therapy areas, treatment landscapes and client’s strategy/positioning in relation to these in order to provide sound counsel
- The ability to collaborate with suppliers and partners on AXON’s and clients’ behalf
- Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize, re-prioritize and to balance multiple tasks as well as ability to oversee and guide tasks of other team members
Knowledge
- Excellent understanding of and consistent ability to apply local and international industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., ABPI/EFPIA/GPP3/CONSORT) to enable high-quality, compliant management of projects
- Maintains and expands knowledge of industry issues and in areas of relevance to AXON and clients and proactively shares knowledge with the broader team as appropriate
- Keeps up to date with Microsoft Office capabilities and champions new technologies relevant to our industry where possible
- Compliance with/understanding of GDPR and instilling principles in more junior team members
