With International Women’s Day tomorrow, we continue to break the bias and celebrate women’s achievements here at AXON.

On that note, huge congratulations to Miranda Dini, Managing Partner of AXON Europe, on making the inaugural Women in PR (WPR) ‘45 over 45’ list. This first-of-its-kind list celebrates outstanding women in communications over the age of 45. This is a proud moment for us, and Miranda, as she was selected out of 200 nominations of women inspiring the next generation of female leaders and shaping a brighter future for the PR sector.

The WPR list is an important step to combat ageism within the industry and prevent barriers to equality, something we are passionate about at AXON. WPR recently ran a survey with Opinium, which revealed some insightful stats surrounding women’s experiences in the workplace:

  • More than 34% of women working in communications revealed they had experienced ageism in the workplace
  • More than 50% of women under 50 admitted they didn’t see a future in the part of the industry they worked in
  • 26% of the youngest group polled (18–34) say they expect to leave the industry altogether
  • Limited career opportunities to progress (42%) and a lack of visibility of women aged over 50 in inspirational senior leadership roles (44%) were the biggest causes of the above, alongside the need for better work/life balance

After processing these findings, we are even more thrilled that Miranda was selected for this list of ‘trailblazing women.’ We appreciate the benefits that her experience brings to the team and the value that female leadership offers. AXON is committed to a policy of equal opportunities and non-discrimination in the workplace, and this award is testament to that.

“It’s such an honor to have been selected for this inaugural list of very impressive women in PR,” said Miranda Dini, Managing Partner, AXON Europe. “Even before the pandemic, we were seeing far too many talented female leaders leave the industry, and the situation has become even worse with recent pressures. My hope is that by recognizing the benefit that comes with experience and celebrating women who have had long and successful careers in PR, we can also continue to inspire the next generation to see an exciting future in our industry.”

WPR’s ‘45 over 45’ list is the first in the industry that celebrates women in this age group. We hope it is the first of many such lists, and that the women of AXON continue to be recognized for thriving in their careers...regardless of age!
