In February 2021, FORWARD and the University of Huddersfield, UK published a report based on research that documented how FGM safeguarding measures in the UK were alienating families within African diaspora communities.

We worked with FORWARD to deploy a multichannel campaign to raise awareness of the harmful impacts of the current FGM safeguarding policies and foster advocacy to support the long-term goal of a re-examination of these policies.

Impact:

  • 7 pieces of unique media coverage in national and regional media outlets, including exclusives for The Guardian and The Voice
  • 11 key influencers amplified the campaign, reaching more than 50,000 people
  • FORWARD social media impressions and profile visits were boosted by 200% and 700%, respectively, versus the previous month
